Company car and van drivers are driving early adoption of Epyx’s new Tyreserve e-commerce service.
The company says that, once drivers learn that they can take the option of having tyres fitted during routine dealer servicing without visiting a fast-fit centre, they almost invariably do so.
David Goodyear, head of business development at Epyx, said: “For drivers, having to go to a fast-fit centre for tyres as well as a dealer for servicing is a simply a waste of time.
“Those that have used Tyreserve appreciate the one-stop alternative that it provides.
“Those drivers are, we hear, often mentioning it to their colleagues and word is starting to get around.
“Of course, it is also a good option for employers, who have nothing to gain from having drivers sitting around in fast-fit centres waiting for tyres to be fitted.”
Goodyear said that one major leasing fleet and several leading franchise dealer groups had already signed up to Tyreserve and that Epyx would be able to announce their names and more very soon.
“There has been a lot of interest in the product from both the fleet and dealer sectors that is starting to translate into business.”
Tyreserve is designed to help franchise dealers compete with fast-fits for fleet tyre business – allowing a more convenient service for drivers and creating new profit opportunities for dealers.
It can be easily adopted by any dealer that is registered as a supplier on Epyx’s 1link Service Network platform, which includes almost every mainstream franchise dealer in the UK.
Similarly, fleets who use 1link Service Network can opt to employ Tyreserve as part of their normal, daily use of the platform to manage overall service and maintenance spending.
Currently, fleets users of the platform total more than three million vehicles, including all of the UK’s top 50 vehicle leasing companies.
A complete tyre catalogue is available through 1link Service Network that will be charged at agreed prices. Dealers can draw tyres from their own stock or order them from distributors via Epyx.
Goodyear said: “What we are offering to fleet is an increased level of convenience and highly competitive pricing. There is no reason for fleets not to add Tyreserve to the SMR service that they use.”
