Alison Moriarty, fleet risk and compliance manager at Skanska, was named ‘road risk manager of the year’ at the recent Brake Fleet Safety Awards.
The national road safety charity’s annual ceremony, which was held at St John’s Hotel in Solihull, recognise the achievements of fleet operators and suppliers who are working hard to reduce road crashes involving at-work drivers.
Moriarty was nominated due to her impressive track record in minimising road risk and shaping driver behaviour within the organisation.
However, it was her work to improve road safety, ensuring fleet safety is at the heart of their Health and Safety programme, which saw her claim victory.
The judges were particularly impressed with her tireless efforts with other companies, charities and organisations, frequently going above and beyond to ensure road safety is a priority within the wider community.
Commenting on her win, Moriarty said: “I’m overwhelmed to have won this prestigious award from Brake.
“This win is a testament to the hard work put in by myself and the entire fleet team to ensure we are doing everything possible to improve road safety, through positively influencing driver behaviour for our employees and partners.
“This accolade will only inspire us to work harder on improving road safety in the future.”
Licence Bureau, which sponsored the road risk manager of the year award, is a long-standing licence checking partner of construction company.
It was nominated in the road safety in the community category due to its commitment to improving road safety through multiple collaborations with Brake and Skanska, which has seen more than 1,000 students educated on key road safety messages across Hertfordshire.
Malcolm Maycock, managing director of Licence Bureau, said: “On behalf of everyone at Licence Bureau, we’d like to congratulate Alison on her well-deserved win at the Brake Fleet Safety Awards.
"We have worked alongside Alison and Skanska for many years, and are well aware of her exemplary efforts to improve road risk management policies, both at Skanska and externally.
"We look forward to continuing our work with Alison to raise further awareness of road safety in the future.”
