Alphabet has been awarded the Top Employers United Kingdom 2020 Certification for the seventh consecutive year.
The leasing and mobility company, which ranks sixth in the FN50, was been recognised by independent international HR certification company, the Top Employers Institute.
Organisations certified as Top Employers must dedicate themselves to providing the very best working environment for employees through progressive ‘people-first’ HR practices.
Stefan Oswald, chief financial officer at Alphabet, said, “The world of work is constantly changing, so it is vital organisations evolve to stay ahead of the curve. The Top Employers Institute is a great way for Alphabet to benchmark how we’re doing as a company and where we can develop further with regard to the most important resource we have: our people.
“Attracting and retaining talent has always been key, but equally important is engaging our employee community with our company’s core purpose to deliver successful business performance, enhanced customer experience and improved customer satisfaction. So this award is recognition for the personal contribution and commitment of all of our 400 plus employees working in the UK and the significant value they add to our business and to our customer relationships.”
The award is made to employers who “demonstrate excellence” in employee conditions, develop talent at all levels and “strive to continuously enhance their employment practices”.
It has certified and recognised more than 1,600 Top Employers in 119 countries across five continents.
The Top Employers Institute assesses participants through a global HR Best Practices Survey and organisations must successfully achieve required standards in a number of key areas in order to be certified.
The survey encompasses more than 100 questions that cover 600 People Development practices across 10 topics: Talent Strategy, Workforce Planning, Talent Acquisition, On-boarding, Learning & Development, Performance Management, Leadership Development, Career & Succession Management, Compensation & Benefits and Culture.
The Top Employers Institute evaluates the implementation of these HR practices and reviews how they are supported through Strategy, Ownership, Practices, Measurement and Technology.
“To become recognised as a Top Employer, an organisation will have to prove that the implementation of their people strategies enriches the world of work of their employees. The certified participants are a shining example of a dedication to people practices as they continuously commit to empowering their employees for a better world of work,” said Top Employers Institute CEO David Plink.
