The subsidiary of Enterprise Holdings in Ireland has completed the acquisition of Dublin-headquartered Walker Vehicle Rentals following approval from regulatory authorities in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Enterprise will now look to integrate the businesses to create one of Ireland’s largest and most diverse commercial vehicle rental companies with a combined fleet of more than 1,900 vehicles, it said.
Once integrated, the business will operate as part of Enterprise’s commercial vehicle division, Enterprise Flex-E-Rent.
In time, the Walker Vehicle Rental depots in Dublin, Cork, Wexford, Limerick and Antrim will be rebranded as Enterprise Flex-E-Rent locations.
Enterprise Holdings’ managing director for the UK and Ireland, Ryan Johnson, said: “We’re delighted to formally welcome all 70 Walker Vehicle Rentals’ employees into the Enterprise family.
“We can now look to integrate the businesses with the help of the existing Walker Vehicle Rentals management team to create the leading commercial vehicle business in Ireland that provides its customers with the very best choice, value and service.”
Johnson says that the agreement will allow the company to expand its commercial vehicle business “significantly” and will complement its existing Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch network and recently launched Enterprise Car Club service.
“It also illustrates our commitment to grow our business in Ireland through investment, diversification and the introduction of additional mobility services,” he said.
“We want Enterprise to be the first choice for customers - whatever the vehicle, whenever they need it, for however long they need it for.”
In addition to its commercial vehicle division, Enterprise operates 24 Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch locations throughout Ireland, which are managed by more than 200 employees.
Two months ago, the company also launched its Enterprise Car Club service to provide flexible, short-term, and sustainable car rental options to residents, commuters, and visitors across Ireland.
Enterprise Car Club currently comprises more than 30 cars and vans in eight towns and cities. These include 16 on-street sites in Dublin as well as vehicles at Enterprise Rent-A-Car branches in Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford, Tralee, Drogheda, and Naas.
The vehicles are available to rent on an hourly basis and so provide a convenient travel option for when a car is the best choice for a journey.
Enterprise Holdings operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands. It is based in St Louis, Missouri, USA and is the world’s largest car rental company. The business was founded in 1957 and remains family owned.
