Kwik Fit Fleet raises cash for Prostate Cancer UK
Kwik Fit Fleet has raised £53,000 for Prostate Cancer UK as a result of its 2023 charity golf day.
The event was held at the famous Marquess course at Woburn Golf Club with 80 players in attendance, comprising employees of Kwik Fit and its parent company ETEL, fleet customers, industry partners and guests.
The tournament was played in a fourball format with the players getting the chance to receive some expert coaching on the practice greens from Andrew Murray.
Murray is an ex-European open champion, golf course designer and long-time supporter of Prostate Cancer UK. He provided people with valuable tips on their putting and short game before they took on the challenging course.
Also in attendance were British Touring Car Championship leader Ash Sutton and his NAPA Racing UK teammate Daniel Rowbottom, who took time out of their racing schedule for a different form of driving.
The total amount raised was a result of donations and successful bids in the charity auction, with a range of highly desirable lots on offer. This is just one of the events Kwik Fit Fleet has held to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK, with the aim of combatting the most common cancer affecting men in the UK.
The funds are being used to raise awareness of the risks of prostate cancer, to support Prostate Cancer UK’s specialist nurses team, and help fund research into treatment and diagnosis, with a particular focus on developing an effective test for use in a national screening programme.
Dan Joyce, Kwik Fit Fleet director, said: "We are delighted that everybody enjoyed the day, but most importantly that we raised such a large sum for Prostate Cancer UK, an incredible £53,000.
“The weather just about held and the golfing form was also fair to middling. I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all those supported the day, particularly all our industry partners – we’re already looking forward to planning next year’s event."
