GWM Ora will rebrand as GWM as the Chinese manufacturer expands its model range starting with the Haval Jolion Pro Hybrid SUV.
Further details on the pricing, UK specification and emissions of the Haval will be confirmed early next year.
However, in other markets the Haval hybrid has a 1.5-petrol engine and electric motor linked to a seven-speed auto, for a combined 188bhp and 277lb ft of torque. GWM has said in other market information that the Jolion Pro hybrid has an average fuel economy rate of 55mpg.
Pricing is expected to be aggresive against other Chinese and established rivals at around £30,000 or under.
Globally, GWM has five model lines – Ora, Haval, Wey, Tank and Poer.
Ora is the family car class, the Haval and Wey are SUVs, while the Tank, as the name suggests, is a Jeep Wrangler-esque chunky off-roader and the Poer is a hybrid pick-up.
It's unclear at this stage how many of these model ranges will make it to the UK.
Up until now Ora was the only line planned for sale in the UK, which is why dealerships were known under the GWM Ora name.
The decision has now been made to bring across more models to the UK, so the brand explained that it made sense to unify them under one GWM name.
At the start of 2025 GWM UK is moving to the ‘one GWM’ platform which is already in operation in many other parts of the world, including right-hand drive models in Australia and New Zealand, enabling it to benefit from a wider product portfolio.
Toby Marshall, managing director at GWM UK, said: “This is the start of a new era for GWM in the UK, as we expand the product offering available to customers.
"With the introduction of Haval under the GWM umbrella, we are able to offer customers a very competitively priced, and well specified petrol hybrid car, for those that want to make their first step toward electrification.”
"All our current GWM Ora retailers will re-align with the new GWM branding and will be offering the Haval Jolion Pro from its launch in early 2025.”
All UK GWM Ora dealerhips will rebrand as GWM as the Chinese brand prepares to launch its next chapter with its Haval Jolion Pro Hybrid SUV early next year.
Dealers will remove the Ora name from their dealership logos by mid-February next year.
It's not the first time GWM has rebranded after decicing to change the name of the GWM Ora Funky Cat to a more European leaning Ora 3 in November 2023.
