Former RAC director George Webb has joined keyless car sharing platform Hiyacar as its new executive chair.

He brings extensive experience in fleet management, technology, and leadership at a critical time of growth and innovation for the company.

Hiyacar supports more than 100 car clubs in London and also enables the public sector to shift grey miles - travelled in employees' personal vehicles - to an efficient, green pool fleet.

The keyless service allows colleagues to unlock and start cars using a smartphone app, eliminating the need for in-person key exchanges.

With the UK government intensifying its focus on reducing carbon emissions by 68% by 2030, and promoting shared mobility solutions, Webb's expertise will be vital in driving the company forward.

Webb began his career as a software entrepreneur and founded the fleet management software company Tranman.

At the RAC he secured £1.6 billion in vehicle leasing contracts with the Ministry of Defence and later oversaw the operational and financial performance of both the UK White Fleet contract and the C Vehicle PFI.

Webb said: “I am thrilled to be appointed as Executive Chair of Hiyacar. I have transformed the fortunes of technology businesses of various scales and look forward to driving Hiyacar’s success and cutting-edge technology forward.

“Together with the talented Hiyacar team I am going to make a significant impact in the car sharing industry. Additionally, I am committed to advancing our sustainability goals working with the market to achieve its Net Zero targets."
