Alphabet appoints Paul Harkins as head of broker partnerships

Alphabet (GB) has appointed Paul Harkins as head of broker partnerships to continue its broker channel transformation through 2025. 

Harkins (pictured) will be supported in the coming weeks by Hollie Crumlish, who is soon to leave the role on maternity leave. 

As part of his secondment from his regional development manager position, Harkins will now be responsible for the management and execution of an exciting year of growth for Alphabet’s broker channel. 

This includes overseeing Alphabet’s soon-to-be-announced partner-plus event in September, to further enhance its business proposition. 

It will follow Alphabet’s partner relaunch event in June 2024 from which the company presented its new vision for leasing broker partners and the introduction of a new broker scorecard. 

Harkins said: “I’m thrilled to be taking up the role of Head of Broker Partnerships. I love the fleet industry and working closely our broker partners, so I’m excited to have the opportunity to bring my development skills and broker knowledge to this role.”

Herd Group appoints new head of sales

Herd Group has announced the promotion of Jonathan Hopkinson to head of sales. 

He will head up the sales team, responsible for driving Herd Synergy a complete fleet mobility solution which blends our key service lines of fleet management, flexible vehicle rental and remarketing 

He will also be instrumental in the growth of the myHerd franchise network – local van rental, Herd Hire.

Hopkinson (pictured) joined the Herd family in December 2023, and has been integral in the development and growth of Herd Connect adding a large number of vehicles in addition to new customers to the Herd Business portfolio.

‘Knowledge and expertise’ key to FMG board appointment

Incident Management specialist FMG has made a key appointment to the board, appointing Phil Jerome to the role of sales director - fleet. 

Jerome (pictured) brings considerable industry knowledge and experience following a 25-year career in the leasing and fleet sector. His appointment follows the promotion of former sales director Andy Chandler to managing director in October 2024.

He will take responsibility for growth and customer retention in a role which aims to capitalise on his experience managing customer-facing teams and growth opportunities within the sector.

Chandler said: “This is a key appointment for FMG which underlines our commitment to remaining true to our core strategy, to be the UK’s leading provider of high quality, outsourced fleet incident management solutions. 

“Phil is vastly experienced and is a welcome addition to the board as we develop our business proposition to ensure we’re evolving and innovating to meet client needs whilst delivering the high level of service we’re synonymous with.”

Jerome was sales director at Zenith for 15 years, where he took commercial responsibility for new business sales across all products. 

In 2016, he launched his own business, Meridian Vehicle Solutions, specialising in medium-term car lease, where he was managing director for the past nine years.

DTM announces appointment of Jason Chamberlain

Specialist Tyre management provider DTM has named Jason Chamberlain as its new chief revenue officer, effective April 2025.

With nearly two decades of leadership experience, including senior roles at ATS Euromaster and Tructyre, Chamberlain (pictured) brings a wealth of expertise in the B2B automotive sector.

Logistics UK makes new director appointments

Logistics UK has strengthened the strategic development of its multimodal offering with the appointment of four new directors to the organisation’s non-executive board.  

Mark Grimshaw-Smith (pictured above), Jamie Hartles, Professor Rem Noormohamed and James Wroath bring a wealth of experience to the organisation from across all sectors of the industry.

“Our new non-executive directors join Logistics UK at a key time for our sector,” said Phil Roe, the organisation’s president, “and bring a wide range of knowledge to help us drive the organisation on to the next stage of its development. 

“With roles covering all modes of transport, as well as business change and digital transformation, they will complement the skills already in place on the board to ensure we are best placed to serve the needs of our members, and the industry as a whole, as it grows and develops. Grimshaw-Smith, head of rail and supply chain for Cemex UK, brings more than 40 years of experience in the movement of heavy construction materials to his new role. 

Professor Noormohamed has extensive experience in technology, AI, data and intellectual property law, as well as in business change and digital transformation. 

Dual-qualified as a solicitor and professional IT and telecoms engineer, his clients include listed FTSE250 and NASDAQ companies, central government, the voluntary sector and multinationals.

With 18 years' experience in third party logistics, Hartles (pictured below) is currently the chief executive officer for logistics at Howard Tenens. 

He is passionate about the use of state-of-the-art technology to enhance business resilience and minimise environmental impact of all logistics movements. 

Meanwhile, appointed chief executive officer of Wincanton in 2019, Wroath previously headed the North American division of LSG Sky Chefs, the airline catering division of Lufthansa AG, and for Kuehne+Nagel as senior vice president in North America for both contract logistics and overland transportation. 

3Dtracking appoints Merick Singh as new head of operations

3Dtracking, a provider of white-labelled telematics platforms, has appointed Merick Singh as its new head of operations.

In his new role, he will be responsible for implementing and optimising service delivery processes for the company’s telematics service provider partners, managing their service operations on the 3Dtracking platform.

He brings a wealth of experience from across the telematics industry, including senior management roles in business development, operations, compliance and technical support. 

Prior to joining 3Dtracking, he managed a network of distribution partners in 28 countries across Africa and the Middle East for a leading provider of asset tracking devices for stolen vehicle recovery and other telematics security applications. 

His previous experience includes managing telematics fleet compliance in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for an emerging provider of a ride hailing service and managing large-scale, multinational telematics projects for a leading provider of mobile asset tracking software.
