Nexus Vehicle Hire makes senior management changes  

Nexus has appointed Gerry McCaig as chief operating officer and Stuart Miles as chief revenue officer.

McCaig and Miles will be working alongside the rest of the board to further develop the proposition, products and drive the next level of growth in the business.

In his role as chief operating officer, McCaig will be charged with delivering scalable growth and developments into new markets, alongside current product and service enhancement.

He previously held head of operations and chief operating officer roles at British Gas Energy and JLA respectively.

In his role as chief revenue officer, Miles aims to embed customer central solutions, while seeking new initiatives to help drive sustainable top line growth.

He also previously spent two decades in commercial lead roles within the vehicle and rental sector.

Road Angel appoints former leader of the House of Commons

Road Angel has appointed Sir Mark Spencer, former Conservative MP for Sherwood and leader of the House of Commons, as partnerships director on the Road Angel board of directors.

The British-owned brand has grown its consumer retail share of the UK dash cam market by 316% in the year to Q1 2024 and the company continues to expand its global network of 12 retail partners including Halfords, Amazon, Costco, Vauxhall, Car Audio Centre and Comet.

Gary Digva, sales director at Road Angel, said: “Mark brings a wealth of unparalleled experience to the business including his work on government international trade strategy and formulating international trade agreements.

“His 21-year heritage as a councillor and member of parliament serving on several important trade committees will be of tremendous value, especially at a time when the business is accelerating at such a rapid pace worldwide.

During his time as a MP, Spencer has served on several committees including the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee.

In 2016, he was appointed to the Government Whips Office as an Assistant Government Whip. He also held various other posts in the Whips Office including Lord Commissioner of HM Treasury (2017-2018), Vice Chamberlain of HM Household (2018) and Comptroller of HM Household (2018-2019).

In July 2019, then Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, appointed him to the Cabinet in the post of Government Chief Whip and Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury.

He served in this role until February 2022, when the Prime Minister appointed Mark, Leader of the House of Commons and Lord President of the Council.

Following the election of Liz Truss as Prime Minister, he was appointed as Minister of State in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and was reappointed under Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Keyloop names Tim Smith as chief strategy officer

Keyloop has appointed Tim Smith, former CEO of ATG, as chief strategy officer (CSO), following its acquisition of ATG in May, and an integration of both companies to create the automotive retail platform (ARP), Fusion.  

As CSO, Smith will be spearheading a newly established strategy function that encompasses value propositions and marketing, driving the positioning and development of Fusion.

ZeroMission appoints CTO to drive innovation

Electric vehicle (EV) commercial fleet software specialist ZeroMission has strengthened its senior executive team with the appointment of Alan Crowley as chief technology officer (CTO).

He will be responsible for leading technology innovation within the business, using the latest advances in AI, machine learning and data analytics to help shape the future of electric mobility and zero emission vehicle (ZEV) fleet management.

“Commercial fleets are under huge pressure to decarbonise their operations, but this can only be truly achieved through the efficient deployment and ongoing management of electric vehicles,” explained Crowley.

Crowley has more than 25 years of experience in software development and IT consultancy. He has worked across a variety of industry sectors – including e-mobility, utilities, global supply chain and manufacturing – devising innovative solutions and implementing cutting edge technologies to optimise processes, enhance efficiency, and maximise the benefits of automation.

National Windscreens appoints new sustainability and compliance manager

National Windscreens has appointed Craig Gibson as its new sustainability and compliance manager, highlighting the company’s dedication to sustainable operations.

In his new role, he will lead the company's sustainability team, overseeing regulatory compliance and health and safety across the business.

He has 21 years' experience in the automotive glazing industry, providing him with extensive knowledge of the sector.

He started his career at National Windscreens as a trainee technician at the Southampton branch, where he obtained NVQ level 2 and 3 qualifications before being promoted to regional trainer and NVQ assessor.

Most recently, in March 2023, he was appointed as the ESG manager. He said: “This promotion allows me to utilise my hands-on industry experience to oversee and develop the company's sustainability initiatives and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

City Auction Group names new head of business development

City Auction Group has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Lee Connor as the new head of business development, with immediate effect.

Connor has more than 20 years’ experience in the vehicle remarketing sector, having worked for Wilsons Auctions, initially as an auction trainee, moving onto fleet corporate and field sales positions, and more recently, as branch auction manager and auctioneer.

He was responsible for the corporate accounts at the branch, together with business development in Northern Ireland, primarily whilst promoting and developing the corporate fleet client relationships across the UK.

In this new role, as head of business development, he will be charged with enhancing City Auction Group’s client portfolio with key partnerships across all services, together with focusing on the further development of current relationships through effective and personalised customer management across the group.

He said: “I’m really excited about the journey. City Auction Group has seen exponential growth in recent times and working alongside a robust and experienced team led by our visionary CEO, I will help drive assist further advancement of our services to both current and prospective customers. There are exciting times ahead for the business.

“As an auctioneer, I'm really looking forward to stepping into the purple lane, gavel in hand to auction some quality stock on behalf of our many partners.”
