Zeekr is the first car brand to utilise a new generation of battery pack, which enables a range of more than 600 miles per charge.
Developed by battery specialist CATL, the Qilin battery develops 13% more power than its predecessor despite being the same size.
The first new Zeekr model to utilise the new battery will be the Zeekr 009, a luxury MPV that’s due to launch in China early next year.
Zeekr will also use the new battery tech in its 001 saloon car, from Q2 2023.
The Chinese car maker is part of the Geely group and has plans to expand sales beyond its home turf to Canada, Europe and the USA.
Currently, the longest-range EV available in the UK is the Mercedes EQS, which can cover almost 400 miles per charge.
