Commercial vehicle and automotive support specialists Fastline Group has reported significant fuel savings after introducing AGM Routemaster's vehicle tracking system.

The Kettering-based company, which incorporates Northampton Diesel, supplies a spare parts and repair service which includes diesel injector pumps, injectors, general truck parts, ECU remapping, cooling and heating parts and electrical unit repairs.

“It’s a busy retail and service operation and our services are spread far and wide throughout the region," said Eugene Finan, managing director of Fastline Group.

"Consequently, we recognised the need for a more efficient fleet control system which could enable us to keep track of each consignment and pinpoint the nearest vehicle to a delivery or service requirement at the touch of a button.”

Fastline installed the Routemaster vehicle tracking system 12 months ago and, according to Finan, soon noticed the differences in their daily vehicle management.

“Right away we were able to make more efficient use of the delivery vehicles and this cut down on wasted miles," he said.

"Needless to say, the impact on fuel costs was significant and we have also saved a great deal of time.”

The system also allows driver performance to be monitored in order that over-revving, harsh braking and unnecessary engine idling can be identified and corrected when required.

Routemaster is a cloud-based modular toolset, created by AGM Telematics of Corby, which comprises three components: planner, dispatch and tracking.

Each module can be used individually or together.
