A giant mermaid has been printed on the side of a Jolly Good Vehicle Rentals’ Luton box van after children at a local primary school took part in an art competition – The Jolly Art Project.

Children at Boughton Heath Academy, Chester, were asked to draw a picture showing what they thought could be transported in a Jolly Good Vehicle Rentals’ van, as part of the Jolly Art Project, with the school also receiving £500 to spend on art materials.

Jolly Good Vehicle Rentals supplied the school with art pads and children sketched their ideas, which included the contents of a house move and an elephant being transported to the zoo.

Judges including headmaster of Boughton Heath Academy, Steven Ellis and group managing director of Jolly Good Vehicle Rentals, Mark Hughes chose the top three designs.

Daisy Hearne, age eight, sketched the winning image, a giant mermaid which has been printed onto the side of the van by APH Signs, Wrexham.

Jolly Good Vehicle Rentals is also providing the school with access to a live tracking system which will be fitted inside the van.

Mark Hughes, group managing director at Jolly Good Vehicle Rentals, said: “It’s fantastic to be able to give something back to the local community.

“We are providing the children with a fun art-based activity and by supplying the technology to track the van it is also a valuable educational tool.”

Hughes added: “We are planning to work with one school per branch each year and we will also be donating £500 to each school to spend on art materials once the project is completed.”
