National supplier of off-grid heat solutions AvantiGas has selected Route Monkey to supply a full scheduling and route optimisation package.
A major supplier of LPG, AvantiGas has a network of 15 distribution centres nationwide and a substantial HGV fleet.
“We found that our previous scheduling tool wasn’t fit for purpose," said Andrew Cauldwell, logistics manager for AvantiGas.
"We put Route Monkey through a really intensive and thorough trial period that included benchmarking both a fully- and part-automated system against our existing manual planning.
“We were impressed with the results and have chosen a hybrid system to best meet our operational needs.
"This is largely automated, helping us to improve transport planning, which is vital as it enables us to be as responsive as possible to our customers’ changing needs."
AvantiGas purchased Route Monkey’s solutions as part of a continuous investment programme that has also seen it recently install forward-facing cameras and telematics across its truck fleet.
“The main driver for us was to realise gains in efficiency,” Cauldwell added.
“Our primary objective was to further enhance both customer service and how we fulfil our duty of care to the drivers who are an integral part of our business.”
