A driver has been refused permission to obtain his first provisional LGV licence until June 21, 2016, after he was disqualified for drink-driving.
Reece Cressey (24) of The Avenues, Norwich, was disqualified for 22 months in January, 2013, for driving or attempting to drive with alcohol level above the legal limit. He was also given no separate penalty for the offences of aggravated taking of a vehicle and using a vehicle uninsured against third-party risks.
The refusal of his first provisional entitlement follows a driver conduct hearing before Deputy Traffic Commissioner, Marcia Davis.
Any matter relating to a professional driver’s conduct can be referred to a Traffic Commissioner by the Secretary of State for Transport.
The Commissioner’s role is to review the driver’s conduct as a whole – both good and bad – and determine whether they are fit to obtain or continue to hold a vocational entitlement.
Cressey attended the conduct hearing in Cambridge.
