Visitors to Commercial Fleet Van and Truck were keen to talk to fleet management software providers about how the latest technology could ease their administrative burden.

Jaama and FleetCheck are set to launch apps which will allow company car drivers to perform daily vehicle checks using their smartphones.

Jaama’s Key2 driver app will also assist drivers with damage reporting and provide out of hours emergency contacts.

Both companies said that their apps had been “driven by customer demand”.

R2C reported that it was seeing interest in its Driver Pre-Use Check app, which alerts fleet managers when a defect is found during a daily vehicle check. The defect is then processed through the R2C defect management system, reducing the time that fleet managers spend managing manual checks.

R2C also used the event to showcase its SMR invoice authorisation system i2i.

Chevin Fleet Solutions, meanwhile, was demonstrating how the latest upgrades to its FleetWave system can improve workshop efficiency, alongside its FleetWave mobile vehicle checking app.

Licence Bureau was promoting its Permit to Drive facility, which allows fleet managers to instantly see if an employee is eligible to drive a business vehicle.

Steve Pinchen of Licence Bureau said: “We’ve had take-up from larger clients who want a quick and thorough way of checking drivers’ compliance to fleet policy.”
