Cab conversion specialist Hatcher Components has developed a new in-cab sleeper solution for light commercial vehicles.
The Shuteye system bolts to the bulkhead in the majority of high-roof vans, providing an insulated padded bunk behind the cab.
With the expanding door-to-door delivery market, the company has identified that van drivers are working longer hours and covering greater distances.
Using its expertise as a manufacturer of truck cab conversions, it developed the shuteye system over a number of years and now has a range of products available to fit the most popular van models, including the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Renault Master and VW Crafter.
Matt Herbert, managing director of Hatcher Components, said: “With online shopping the courier sector has boomed, at peak periods the pressure on couriers can be intense.
“Logistics companies and the brands they deliver value their reputation and want to ensure drivers are well catered for. Shuteye gives them the chance to get a decent rest is they need it.”
The system can also provide an overnight option, providing greater flexibility and reduced costs for operators who regularly put drivers in hotels.
Shuteye conversions cost from £997, including fitting. Optional equipment includes LED lighting and a night heater.
The conversion weighs 35Kg and provides a space measuring 1830cm by 760cm. When folded agasint the bulkhead the unit is 150mm thick.
