LDV’s EV80 travelled 600 zero-emission miles last week for the UK government’s inaugural Green GB Week initiative, to encourage businesses and the public to tackle climate change.
Organised in conjunction with the Department of Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy and delivered by GreenFleet Events, the EV Roadshow visited the four host city towns of Durham, Nottingham, Bournemouth and Bristol between October 15-19.
Each Roadshow featured an EV80 panel van that travelled between events, together with a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle.
The local LDV dealers in each region showed their support for the EV Roadshow, providing an EV80 test drive vehicle for members of the public, local businesses and local authorities.
Over the course of five days, the EV80 van clocked up 600 zero-emission miles visiting each host city.
Travelling at an average speed of 60mph and making full use of the radio, lights, heater and wipers, in inclement weather, the EV80 achieved 120 miles on a single charge on each leg of the journey.
LDV (UK & Ireland)’s general manager Mark Barrett said: “This was a really important initiative that we felt compelled to get behind. We all have a role to play in environmental conservation and every positive change, no matter how small, will have a lasting impact.
"Switching to an electric vehicle is one of the most significant steps a business can take not only in relation to tackling climate change, but for future proofing the business.
“We have had an incredible reaction to the EV80 on this Roadshow, not just from businesses but from members of the public who have been really impressed by the spec and comfort of the vehicle.
"It’s been a great team effort involving many of our dealers and really is a demonstration of LDV’s commitment to greener motoring.”
LDV is supporting business owners who want to make the switch to EV with a six-year finance offer that allows more fleet drivers to update and trade-in their current vehicles.
The vehicles are part of the Go Ultra Low grant scheme and business owners can can take advantage of an £8,000 grant towards a new EV80 van or Chassis cab, encouraging early adoption of zero-emission vehicles.
