Fleet Source has appointed an eight-strong team to form its new ‘innovations group’.
Steve Steele has been appointed as director of innovation, bringing over 30 years of transport experience in both private and public sectors.
He joins from transport pollution reduction specialist, EMSOL, which he co-founded and where he was director and chief operation officer.
He said: “I’m passionate about driving the uptake of best practice within the freight and fleet industry and I’m confident that I can help Fleet Source remain at the forefront of customer-led innovation.”
Previously, Steele spent nearly 15 years at Transport for London (TfL) where he developed several initiatives including being the original thought leader and architect of the FORS accreditation scheme.
His new role will see him head the innovations group tasked with identifying and developing innovative products and services and expanding into new sectors and international markets
Head of innovation delivery, Gareth Fussell will take on the role of head of innovation delivery, after spending the last 19 years working in the rail transport sector.
Fussell is an experienced project manager, with contract and programme delivery skills and expertise in the management of regulatory and compliance requirements.
He will be in charge of leading and managing all innovation delivery programmes and will support the development of a company-wide innovation culture.
Fussell said: “I’m delighted to be joining Fleet Source, one of the most progressive providers in the industry.
“I am looking forward to mapping out and delivering an exciting innovative future for the business.”
Fleet Source chief executive officer, Nick Caesari, said: “Steve and Gareth join Fleet Source at a very exciting time as we roll out innovative training programmes and utilise our auditing expertise to support data driven decisions and initiatives.
“We’re confident that under Steve’s guidance, the team will see the diversification and expansion of our product portfolio and entry into new international markets.”
Fleet Source recently decided to help Vulnerable Road User (non-motorised road users such as pedestrians and cyclists) training, by unveiling a new driver CPC training package.
The Department of Transport 2018 annual casualty figures shows a combined 1,784 road deaths, with 1,030 on rural roads, 646 on urban roads and 107 on motorways.
Its training, which is called Safe UK Driving, covers professional driver training in cities, rural areas and on motorways.
