Portsmouth University’s Estates department has received 19 fitted out vans for its maintenance team.
Its new vans have been adapted into three different interior specifications across the new fleet.
The Fiat Doblo Cargo vans have been modified for electricians, plumbers or general maintenance crew.
Vehicle Lining Services (VLS) fitted out the vans in Birmingham.
Matt Holland, sales manager at VLS, said: “The load spaces in these vans are different for each of the trades - the plumbers have some convenient underfloor storage, the electricians have extra modul system shelving and general maintenance have maximum load area.
“The interior differences are only subtle but should make working with them easier.
“I think fleet managers are giving more thought to the end users of their vehicles, to make sure that they are not only suitable for the job to be done but also convenient for the people using them.”
VLS provides bespoke interiors and accessories for vans, from basic protection to individual adaptions for particular professions.
The vans were supplied by Fiat professional dealer Guest Truck and Van.
Its services include being a dealership for Iveco and Fiat, 24-hour breakdown and recovery, all makes servicing and repair, repair and maintenance contracts, MOT testing and plating, tachograph calibration and repairs, roller brake testing and bodyshop.
Last year, Guest Truck and Van became the first dealer to sell an Iveco Daily RDE Blue Power van, which complies with EU 2020 climate and energy targets.
The latest Euro 6 regulations set higher emissions standards, with the permitted level of nitrogen oxide for diesel vehicles dropping to a maximum of 80mg/km, which is 90% lower than the Euro 1 levels which were introduced in 1992.
In 2018 Guest Truck and Van's longest ever serving employee retired after 52 years of service.
