BMW has unveiled its new X1 compact SUV model.
The new car features a new engine line-up, comprised of one petrol and three diesel engines, and an updated X-Drive system.
Emissions on the two wheel drive sDrive18d model start from 114g/km.
The new BMW X1 is fitted as standard with the iDrive operating system with high-resolution 6.5-inch colour display, business navigation, an audio system with six loudspeakers and an AUX-in socket. A USB interface hands-free facility for telephones, the Driving Experience Control switch and air conditioning are included too.
Standard specification also includes automatic tailgate, front fog lamps, remote- controlled central locking and keyless engine ignition, electric window controls, electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, a leather steering wheel adjustable for height and reach, a rain sensor including automatic headlight control, extended storage and front and rear isofix attachments.
Among the items on the options list is a Panorama glass roof covering a 1,200mm x 847mm area, a CD player, a Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) receiver and Harman Kardon HiFi system, complete with 12 loudspeakers and a digital amplifier with 360-watt output.
The previous model was launched in 2009, and has sold 40,000 examples to date.
The BMW X1 goes on sale in October.

Great improvement all round. Turning the engine around means less phallic bonnet (not really a 'necessary' expression in 2015) and more useful car. Boot is a good size for the class and at last they have gone front wheel drive for non 4wd version. Previously the rear wheel drive one was a joke! I actually know people that bought it thinking it was an SUV (well if it quacks like a duck, it must be.. and not everyone is a car buff) and found it unmanageable in snow any ordinary front wheel drive car could manage easily. They didn't stay on the drive long after that! Front drive should enable all version to at least not totally embarrass themselves. XDrive 20d at 128g/km (same as same sized 1.6 Qashqai with lot less power) is the sweet spot for an all weather 'working car' with some poke too. Could be my next choice.
