The 2017 Range Rover Sport will feature a 2.0-litre diesel engine, making it the most efficient Range Rover ever.

On sale from winter 2016 and priced from £59,700, the updated model will be available with Land Rover’s latest Ingenium SD4 four-cylinder engine.

The upshot for company car drivers is lower CO2 emissions of 164g/km, netting a £1,500 per year saving on benefit-in-kind (BIK) tax (40% payer) over the 3.0-litre SDV6 model.

The inclusion of an extra turbo means the SD4 can cover 0-60mph in eight seconds, thanks to an output of 240bhp and 500nm, while still returning 45.6mpg.

Jeremy Hicks, UK managing director at Jaguar Land Rover, said: “Our customers love the Range Rover Sport and for 2017 it gets even better. It’s brimming with exciting technology for even better on and off-road driving; it has next-generation infotainment and advanced safety features as standard, better economy and running costs, and all for under £60,000.”

Updates include an upgraded infotainment system with connected services and wifi capability, new semi-autonomous driving technologies and greater scope for personalisation.

UK customers will also have the option of specifying Jaguar Land Rover's 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine. It develops 340bhp and 450nm, combined with CO2 emissions of 243g/km.

The InControl Touch Pro infotainment system features an enlarged 10-inch dual-view touchscreen display, with tablet-style pinch and zoom orientation.

All derivatives have a comprehensive suite of safety technologies as standard including Front and Rear Park Distance Control, Cruise Control, Speed Limiter and Lane Departure Warning. For 2017 Autonomous Emergency Braking joins that list.

A new optional Drive Pack contains an additional set of features; Blind Spot Monitor, Traffic Sign Recognition and Reverse Traffic Detection, while Intelligent Speed Limiter uses Traffic Sign Recognition to read speed limit signs and automatically adjust the vehicle’s speed.

Customers looking for greater exclusivity will be able to choose from an extended palette of colour options and finishes. 19 new premium colours have been introduced, ranging from pearlescent whites to greys in high-gloss and new satin finishes.

Jaguar Land Rover will be exhibiting at this year's free-to-attend Fleet Management Live show at the NEC Birmingham on 19-20 October.
