Audi has revealed the new A6 Avant, which will be available to order in the summer.
Like its recently revealed saloon counterpart, the new estate is more technologically advanced than its predecessor, uses mild-hybrid powertrains and offers a sleek yet spacious body.
With larger dimensions than the previous model, the new A6 Avant is able to offer 565 litres of luggage space and ample space for five adults.
Folding down the rear seats opens up a 1,680-litre load space.
The body has been designed to improve aerodynamics, which helps reduce both wind noise and fuel consumption.
Its sleek tailgate and low-profile rear window give the car a sportier look, without compromising space.
Audi says the new A6 Avant is quieter and stronger than ever before.
Just like the new A6 saloon, the Avant comes with a comprehensive package of safety systems incorporating the latest in lighting, assistance and passive safety technology.
Driver assistance features include Adaptive Cruise Assist, which builds on the adaptive cruise control by adding a steering feature to keep the vehicle in lane.
Four and six-cylinder TDI and TFSI engines will be available. All are supported by Audi mild hybrid technology (MHEV) based around a belt alternator starter which recovers energy during braking. It enables engine-off coasting at speeds of between 34mph and 99mph to conserve fuel. An enhanced start-stop function that is active from just over 13mph is also standard.
All versions will be equipped with either seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch or eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmissions, and quattro all-wheel-drive will be a standard or optional feature depending on model.
Inside, two large displays dominate the dashboard. Infotainment and navigation are managed from the top display, while the lower display is used for the climate control and for the convenience functions and text input.
A fully digital Audi Virtual Cockpit is optionally available, as is a full colour head-up display.
