Lexus has launched its new BMW 5 Series rivalling ES, priced from £35,150.
It replaces the GS model in the brand’s UK line-up and sits on an all-new platform.
The front-wheel-drive ES is fitted exclusively with a new 2.5-litre petrol hybrid engine, emitting from 100g/km of CO2.
There are three trim levels: ES, F-Sport and Takumi.
The entry-level car comes fitted with sat-nav, heated front seats, imitation leather upholstery, front and rear parking sensors and a reversing camera.
F-Sport versions feature larger 19-inch alloy wheels, leather sports seats and adaptive suspension.
The range-topping Takumi version adds an electric tailgate, 12.3-inch infotainment display, Mark Levinson sound system, 360-degree camera and power reclining rear seats.
All versions are fitted with Lexus Safety System+, which includes autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.
A new Lane Trace Assist system enables the car to maintain its position in lane, even when there are no road markings.
Average fuel consumption for the GS range - under WLTP – is rated at 52.9 -59.3mpg.
The self-charging hybrid engine develops 218PS, giving a 0-60mph time of 8.9 seconds. It is mated to a CVT transmission.
