Lexus has updated the ES with a new infotainment system and a new F Sport Design trim grade, for the 2023 model year.

The latest round of updates follow a facelift for the car, last year.

Enhancements to the car’s infotainment system are said to deliver faster responses, more intuitive operation and new functions.

Wireless Apple CarPlay is now offered, along with Android Auto via a cable connection. The in-built satnav also includes a new cloud-based function, which gives access to real-time traffic information and fuel prices.

There is also an on-board digital assistant, activated by saying “Hey Lexus”. The system can be used to make phone calls, adjust the audio and climate controls and search the internet.

An upgraded data communications module (DCM) enables connection to e-Care, a diagnostic service that provides advice to drivers in the rare event their car experiences a technical failure. Through the e-Care health check report, Lexus can monitor the vehicle at all times and share the data with Lexus retailers.

The DCM upgrade also makes it possible for owners to access their car remotely using the Lexus Link smartphone app. This can lock or unlock the doors, operate the hazard lights and the set the air conditioning to warm or cool the cabin before making a journey.

Further changes include a new centre console, providing two cup holders and USB ports. The wireless charging tray has also been moved from inside to outside the console box.

Production of the 2023 Lexus ES will commence in August 2022, with deliveries to customers expected from October.
