MG’s electric hatchback, the MG 4, is priced from £26,995.
Five versions are offered with four powertrain choices.
The MG4 EV Standard Range comes in SE specification and uses a 51kWh battery. It is capable of 218 miles range on the WLTP cycle. It's powered by a 170PS motor and is priced from £26,995.
Long Range variants - offered in SE and Trophy trim levels - are capable of 281 miles and 270 miles respectively - thanks to a 64kWh battery. The SE Long Range is priced from £29,495 and the Trophy Long Range from £32,495.
Long Range models have a charging capacity of up to 135kW, meaning a charge time of 35 minutes from 10% - 80% using a 150kW DC rapid charger. The Standard Range takes 39 minutes.
The Extended Range (Trophy only) used a 77kWh battery, giving a 323-mile range. This model is priced at £36,495.
A range-topping X Power variant is offered. Its dual motor powertrain produces 435PS and up to 600Nm of torque. It allows the car to accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds.
Using a 64kWh battery, the car has a combined maximum range of 239 miles. Prices start at £36,495. The Trophy has recalibrated suspension and steering to optimise driveability.
Standard specification includes MG Pilot advanced driver assistance system, automatic LED headlights and rear lights, rear parking sensors, 17-inch alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control, automatic climate control and MG iSmart app connectivity.
Long Range SE models also include MG’s Active Grille Shutter System (AGS), which regulates air flow according to vehicle requirements. This improves aerodynamic efficiency by up to 30% and can increase EV range by as much as 10%.
Trophy models come with an upgraded MG Pilot system, with the inclusion of Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Change Assist (LCA) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). Additionally, a two-tone roof, rear privacy glass, twin aero rear spoiler, leather interior with electric driver’s seat, heated front seats and steering wheel, Bluetooth key, satellite navigation, 360 camera, wireless phone charging and an upgraded MG iSmart system compatible with live services are all standard.
The VW ID 3 rival is built on an all-new platform, which MG says will underpin a whole new line-up of EVs from the brand. Key to the Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) is flexibility. It can be used for everything from a sports car to an SUV. Batteries are integrated into the chassis and can be scaled to suit different applications.
The architecture allows integration with future technologies including battery swap systems, while the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) will enable vehicles to receive Over-The-Air (OTA) updates throughout their lifecycle.
