Vauxhall has launched the first three models from its GSe electrified performance sub-brand – the Astra GSe, the Astra Sports Tourer GSe and the Grandland GSe.
Both Astra models are powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain, offering 225PS and CO2 emissions of 25-26g/km. The hatchback attracts an 8% benefit-in-kind tax rate, thanks to its 40-miles electric range, while the estate sits in the 12% bracket with a 39-mile range.
The Grandland uses an all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid powertrain, with two electric motors and 300PS. It has a slightly larger battery, allowing for a 41-mile electric range and an 8% benefit-in-kind tax bracket.
Prices start at £40,550 for the Astra GSe and £43,700 for the Grandland GSe.
The GSe models are equipped with a dedicated chassis, as well as a unique GSe suspension set-up.
The steering has been calibrated for a sportier feel, while the dampers feature KONI FSD (Frequency Selective Damping), which enables different damping characteristics at high frequencies (suspension control) versus low frequencies (body control).
Exterior details include specially-designed alloy wheels – inspired by the all-electric Manta GSe concept – the specific front bumper and fascia, and the GSe emblem on the tailgate.
Inside, the cabin features Alcantra-trimmed front seats and a GSe-specific steering wheel.
