Toyota has unveiled the bZ Compact SUV Concept, a new CH-R-sized electric crossover that could join its existing bZ4x model.
The concept, which is yet to be named, was revealed at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Toyota says the car gives a glimpse of what the future could hold as it extends the electrification vision of its bZ “Beyond Zero” sub-brand. The car maker plans to launch 30 new battery-powered cars by 2030.
The bZ Compact SUV Concept represents a new design direction for Toyota, with a bigger focus on aerodynamics. The car has a futuristic look, wide track and sleek roofline.
The interior is simplified and utilises eco-friendly touches, such as seating made from plant-based and recycled materials. Two curved digital displays feature prominently, while switchgear has been minimised.
Toyota says an in-car personal assistant connects driver and passengers with the vehicle through audio and lighting cues that move around the cabin, responding to requests or commands.
Further information about the bZ Compact SUV Concept will be revealed in December 2022.
