Alfa Romeo has announced its Tonale Plug-in Hybrid SUV has an electric-only range of 49 miles, putting it in the 8% benefit-in-kind tax bracket.
The model’s powertrain combines a 180hp 1.3-litre turbocharged MultiAir petrol engine, coupled to a six-speed automatic gearbox, to power the front wheels, with a 90kW electric motor powering the rear.
Its 15.5kWh battery can be fully charged in less than two-and-a-half hours from a 7.4kW AC charger.
