Mazda2

Mazda has updated the compact Mazda2 for 2023 with some subtle styling changes and new trim grades.

The front end has been refreshed with a new grille and bumper, while designers have focused on new design features that give the different models a more distinctive appearance.

Four models are offered: Centre-Line, Homura, Exclusive-Line and Homura Aka.

The Homura and Homura Aka have been designed to give the Mazda2 a sportier look and character and feature a black grille, black mirror caps and larger alloy wheels.

Updates introduced to the 1.5-litre petrol engine in 2022 are carried over to the 2023 Mazda2 unchanged. A new compression ratio and redesigned exhaust delivered a reduction in CO2 emissions of 11-14g/km depending on output and transmission.

All models feature sat-nav, wireless Apple CarPlay, cruise control, integrated Bluetooth and climate control as standard.

The 2023 Mazda2 range starts with the 75PS Centre-Line, while the Centre-Line model is also offered with the 90PS output. Homura is offered with the 90PS version, while the Exclusive-Line is also offered with the 90PS output but comes with a choice of automatic and manual transmission. The range-topping Homura Aka is offered with a choice of 90 or 115PS outputs, with the 90PS offered with both automatic and manual gearbox. With the exception of the 75PS variant, all manual versions feature Mazda’s M Hybrid mild-hybrid system.

Pricing starts from £17,750. The 2023 Mazda2 range will go on sale in late spring.

The new Mazda2 will be sold alongside the soon-to-launch Mazda2 Hybrid, which is based on the Toyota Yaris.
