Honda has revealed the sixth-generation CR-V and confirmed the new model will the brand's first plug-in hybrid.
The new CR-V is expected to launch later this year and will take a step toward the premium segment with focus on high-quality materials and sporty driving dynamics.
It will be offered with a choice of either a full hybrid (e:HEV) or a plug-in hybrid (e:PHEV) powertrain. Both variants utlise a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.
The e:PHEV uses a 17.7kWh battery, giving a zero-emission range of more than 50 miles and cementing its place within the 8% benefit-in-kind tax band. Power and performance data is yet to be revealed.
Only five-seat versions will be offered in the latest generation, although Honda says the CR-V's wheelbase has been stretched to enable more space for passengers and a large boot.
The new CR-V benefits from a similar interior overhaul to the new Civic and features the same nine-inch infotainment screen.
Specification highights include leather upholstery, heated and cooled seats, a panoramic sunroof and an updated suite of driver assistance systems.
Pricing for the new CR-V is expected to be announced in the summer ahead of the car's arrival in the autumn,
