Toyota has confirmed pricing for its all-new Land Cruiser that adopts a rugged look to emphasise its durability and off-road capability.
The car will be available to order in July, with the first models due to arrive in the UK in September.
Prices start at £74,995 for the Land Cruiser Invincible and £79,995 for the First Edition.
Both the First Edition and Invincible have seven seats with black leather upholstery. Equipment features include air conditioning with separate front and rear cabin controls and the Toyota Smart Connect+ multimedia system with 12.3-inch touchscreen and both cloud-based and embedded navigation.
A head-up display, fully digital driver’s instrument combimeter, 14-speaker JBL audio system, Panoramic View Monitor, roof rails and a sunroof are also included. The Invincible has 20-inch black alloy wheels.
The Land Cruiser's retro styling is inspired by Toyota's historic models and follows a trend set by the Land Rover Defender - a key rival.
The new Land Cruiser uses a body-on-frame structure to maximise its off-road capability. The new frame is 50% more rigid and the combined body and frame rigidity is greater by 30%. Toyota says these increases contribute to improved responsiveness, handling and ride comfort. Basic suspension performance has also been enhanced, notably to help secure increased wheel articulation – a key factor in off-road driving capability.
A new electric power steering system and disconnecting anti-roll bars - a first for Toyota - provide greater drivability on rough surfaces.
In the UK, the new Land Cruiser will be introduced with a 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine with 204PS and a new eight-speed automatic transmission. It will have a towing capability of up to 3,500kg.
A 48-Volt mild hybrid diesel will be available in early 2025.
Overall length is 4,920mm, width 1,980mm and height 1,870mm; the wheelbase is 2,850mm. The Land Cruiser's interior offers a choice of five or seven-seat configurations,
Toyota expects that the initial allocation of vehicles will be accounted for immediately, due to high demand. Additional variants will be added at a later date.
