BMW has expanded the powertrain line-up for the iX1 with the introduction of the eDrive20, which is available to order now.
The new derivative uses a single electric motor, enabling it to travel further between charges than the twin-motor xDrive30 version.
Prices for the eDrive20 start at £44,560, making it the cheapest iX1 model currently available.
The official WLTP range for the BMW iX1 eDrive20 is 268 to 296 miles, depending on trim level.
The car develops 204PS and 247Nm, enabling it to accelerate from 0-62mph in 8.6 seconds. Power is sent to the front wheels.
It uses the same battery as the iX1 xDrive30, with a useable capacity of 64.7kWh. It supports AC charging at up to 11kW, enabling a full charge in 6.5 hours. A 22kW charger is optionally available, cutting that time to 3.75 hours. At a public rapid charger, the car can charge from 10% to 80% in 29 minutes (130kW).
The iX1 eDrive20 can be specified in Sport (£44,560), xLine (£46,560) and M Sport (£49,310). All versions are equipped with BMW's latest iDrive system, featuring a 10.7-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch instument cluster which are connected as part of a curved panel.
