Citroen has revealed the all-new C3 Aircross ahead of its arrival in the UK later this year.

The compact SUV has grown in size and is now aligned more closely with cars in the segment above.

Among the key changes is the introduction of a seven-seat version.

There will also be an electric e-C3 Aircross, for the first time, although that's only offered with five seats.

As a sister car to the Citroen C3, the new C3 Aircross shares a number of design cues and interior architecture.

Highlights include Citroen's new head-up display, which places the conventional instrument cluster display at the base of the windscreen. There's also a 10.25-inch central infotainment touchscreen along with Citroen's Advanced Comfort suspension and seats.

The powertrain line-up consists of a 1.2-litre 100PS turbocharged petrol engine and a 136PS hybrid, based on the same unit. There's also an e-C3 with 113PS and a 44kWh battery.

The e-C3 can cover up to 186 miles and supports 100kW rapid charging, for a 20% - 80% top up in 26 minutes.

At 4.39m long, the new C3 Aircross offers a spacious interior. Citroen claims the five-seater version delivers "record space" in row two and a 460-litre boot. The seven seater provides 40 litres of luggage space with all the seats in use, or 330 litres with the rearmost row folded.

Two trim grades are offered: Plus and Max.

Standard equipment includes six airbags, automatic air conditioning, 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone mirroring, active safety braking, active lane departure warning system, driver attention alert, cruise control with speed limiter, recognition of speed limit signs, rear parking sensors and rear parking camera, automatic lighting, Advanced Comfort Seats, electric front and rear windows, 40/60 folding rear seat, LED headlights and daytime running lights, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The Max additionally offers 3D LED rear lights, a white or black bi-tone roof depending on the body colour, 3D navigation, wireless smartphone charging, exterior mirrors with blind-spot detection, front parking sensors, electrochrome interior mirror, and a winter pack comprising of heated seats, heated steering wheel and heated windscreen.

The new Citroen C3 and e-C3 Aircross will go on sale in the autumn, with first customer deliveries by the end of the year.
