Trakm8 believes dash cams will play a fundamental part in tackling insurance fraud in future.

In last week's Autumn Statement, George Osborne outlined the Government’s plans to tackle the problem which has blighted the motor and insurance industry for years.

The Chancellor said the Government will “crack down on the fraud and claims culture in motor insurance” and expressed the party’s intention to end the right to cash compensation.

The Insurance Fraud Bureau suggested last week that ‘crash for cash’ style fraud is worth a total of £336million.

John Watkins, executive chairman at the Trakm8 Group, said: “Motor insurance fraud has become commonplace in British society – almost to a level where it is the norm for certain individuals to exploit loopholes open to them just ‘because they can’. The Conservative’s pledge to tackle this issue head on, I’m sure, will be welcomed wholeheartedly by the majority of this country’s responsible drivers who see the cost of fraud reflected in their monthly premiums.

“Dash-cam evidence offers insurers a missing piece of the puzzle when identifying fault, especially in crash for cash schemes. I have no doubt that this growing technology will be fundamental in helping the government to finally banish this shameful claims culture.”
