JC Payne and Otis Vehicle Rentals has appointed Stephen Horrocks as group finance director, control and responsibility for all financial aspects of the businesses.
He will support the delivery of the companies’ ambitious growth plans, along with providing strategic support and input to the Board.
Horrocks started his career at Clement Keys and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2007, becoming a Group partner in the business in 2013.
He worked with many SME owner-managed businesses across a broad spectrum of sectors, including those in both automotive and manufacturing. Most recently, Horrocks spent four years at TeacherActive, a specialist Education Recruiter, where he held the position of chief financial officer since 2018, and finance director prior to this date.
“Having known the businesses for some time and watched the group more than double its revenue in the last six years alone, I know I am joining at an exciting time and look forward to working with the whole team to help the business continue its growth moving forward,” Horrocks said.
This senior appointment means that David Scorer, who recently celebrated his 15 year anniversary working for the group, will be able to fully concentrate on his role as group operations director, having been promoted in January 2018 from his prior position of financial controller.
Scorer leads all operational aspects of the businesses’ activities, including overseeing the management of the group’s 130,000 square feet manufacturing facility and 200 plus commercial vehicle rental fleet.
Neil Brandrick, managing director of JC Payne, said: “Steve has been known to the business for some time and brings with him a wealth of experience in working with SME businesses who have been on growth journeys similar to ourselves. The fact that this appointment will allow David to focus all his efforts on increasing the significant impact he has had already on our operations, will only lead to a better experience for all our key stakeholders – our customers, colleagues and suppliers. It is also great timing, allowing us to recognise and celebrate David’s recent anniversary and the journey he has had with the group over the last 15 years.”
