Scottish Water has purchased 111 Fiat Professional vans including more than 40 fully electric vans.

The water company has invested in 69 Doblo, 39 E-Doblo and 3 E-Scudo vans as part of its commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2040.

All the Fiat vans have been converted to ensure they are fit for their intended use. These adaptions include fridges for water samplers, pipe racks, tow bars, hand wash stations, lockers and heaters.

Several of the electric vans are already in use with some driving more than 100 miles per day, with the E-Scudo quoting a WLTP range of up to 217 miles and 205 miles for the E-Doblo.

Elaine Pringle, fleet manager at Scottish Water, said: “Integrating Fiat Pro’s E-Doblo and E-Scudo vans into our fleet marks a significant step forward in our journey towards decarbonising our fleet.

“The specialised conversions of these vehicles meet our operational requirements that enable us to provide excellent water and waste water services for our customers, while the addition of electric vans also demonstrates our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and achieving net zero by 2040.”

Damien Dally, managing director of Fiat UK, added: “We are excited to support Scottish Water’s transition towards net zero.

“The customised Fiat Doblo and E-Scudo vans are designed to meet the diverse needs of their operations while enhancing performance and reducing carbon emissions.

“Our E-Scudo and E-Doblo vans, with their impressive range and rapid charging capabilities, are particularly well-suited for Scottish Water’s transition to greener, more efficient fleet solutions.”
