Toyota has taken the wraps off its updated Aygo X – and it features hybrid power for the first time.
The manufacturer says the A-segment crossover will have the lowest CO2 emissions of any non-plug-in car on the market at 86g/km, as well as a 44PS increase in power compared to the current 1.0-litre petrol – the powertrain the hybrid will replace in future models.
Offering 116PS, the Aygo Hybrid X will accelerate from 0-62mph in less than 10 seconds. It will go on sale in the UK at the end of 2025.
Details of the UK model range and specifications will be announced in due course.
The new model also features new noise-damping components, including dash silencers, bonnet insulation, and an engine underbody cover, combined with an updated exhaust system and silencer.
Further noise reduction measures are featured on higher grade models, including thicker window glass and additional soundproofing throughout the body.
Aygo X Hybrid also features a Toyota Safety Sense safety and driver assistance package, which includes an enhanced pre-collision system, lane trace assist and road sign assist features, as well as a new emergency driving stop system and proactive driving assist.
To accommodate the larger hybrid powertrain, the Aygo X’s front overhang has been extended by 76mm, with the model featuring a new bonnet, headlights and grille. Turning circle of 4.7m, while the boot can carry 231 litres of luggage.
The interior design has been refreshed, and features a new seven-inch digital driver display.
For the first time, an Aygo X GR Sport version is available and features an exclusive Mustard bi-tone colour scheme and black bonnet.
The grille adopts the “G-pattern” mesh seen elsewhere in the GR family, as well as GR Sport alloy wheels. The cabin features black and grey accents, as well as GR logo embroidery.
Its shock absorbers and coil springs have been tuned for enhanced handling and body roll control, while the electric power steering has also been tuned for sharper response.
