Spartacus Solutions has seen an 8% reduction in fuel consumption and a 10% cut in its insurance premiums since installing in-cab cameras and vehicle tracking from Verilocation.
During the first eight months since installation, the vehicle tracking system (which is plugged into the engine’s ECU and monitored from the central traffic office) has enabled Spartacus to gauge and review individual driver performance and in turn, to reduce engine idling across their ever growing vehicle fleet.
Forward facing ‘witness’ cameras provide real-time and constant video surveillance from the drivers’ perspective, giving Spartacus the ability to resolve disputes which may arise from traffic incidents or provide evidence of vehicle location and time in the event that a delivery is unable to be made for reasons beyond the driver’s control.
“We run a nationwide operation which encompasses a diverse range of sometimes highly sensitive disposal and recycling requirements.” said Gary Tait, managing director of Spartacus. “To service this we run a significant number of vehicles working across various industry sectors which are managed by our specialist partners within the Spartacus Group. Therefore, to maintain effective fleet control, we required a tracking and monitoring system which could capture all the relevant vehicle performance, visual records and geographic data required to keep us and our customers fully informed.”
In achieving this, Spartacus not only has the ability to monitor every vehicle from a central control point but also can provide vehicle and schedule information on a regional basis relevant to each of the businesses operating within the Spartacus alliance.
With services including secure data destruction, W.E.E.E. (Waste electrical and electronic equipment), textile recycling, confidential waste, dry mixed recycling, general waste disposal, archiving and digitisation, Spartacus forms an alliance of industry-proven specialists who collectively have serviced more than 12,000 clients and recycled more 391,000 tonnes of waste material.
Tait added: “Our customers come from a cross section of public and private industries, including local authorities and NHS trusts, major multiples and well known high street names. We provide a national service but with a local focus. Whatever the materials in question, a confidential and secure service is required and certainly the fleet management systems provided by Verilocation enable us to keep tight control while holding costs down.”
According to Tait, many of the contracts currently held by the Spartacus alliance would not be achievable without the dynamic data-feed and vehicle audit information which the Verilocation system provides.
“We can dispose of virtually anything - from used cheques and confidential documents to unwanted uniforms and even obsolete casino chips and quite frankly, the Verilocation system makes it easier, better controlled and more cost effective in every case,” he said.
