Transport and Logistics company TDR has added the 150-tonne Mercedes-Benz Arocs SLT tractor unit to its fleet.

The Arocs is the first Mercedes-Benz truck which TDR has bought following a week-long demo last summer, organised by Rygor Group truck sales manager, Jeremy Price.

John Whitworth of TDR said: “Jeremy gave us the opportunity to demo the vehicle over a longer period of time to allow us to see how it would work for our business. This was hugely beneficial as we got to really experience the product in action, something which we have found to be unique to Rygor when it comes to trucks of this size and specification. After a week in the Arocs, we knew it was the vehicle for us.

“Rygor has fitted everything we need, including a TV and a microwave which are essentials when the truck is basically your home Monday to Friday. It’s a really comfortable vehicle and the cab has a great amount of room, making the driving experience all the better.

“The service level we have received from Rygor has been fantastic. Their zero tolerance to downtime policy means they accept our vehicles into their workshops immediately, so vehicle off road time is kept to an absolute minimum. This is essential to our business as any downtime effects our own customer service.

“It was also really useful to have an extensive vehicle handover from driver trainer, Guy Danvers at Rygor. His knowledge was vast, meaning he was able to go through the vehicle with me in detail and answer any questions I had. It was definitely the best handover I have ever had of any vehicle and it’s this type of customer service which makes all the difference to my job."

Dan Harris, regional manager, TDR Heavy Haulage, said: “From a business perspective, we need to ensure that we choose vehicles which are going to be reliable, cost effective with great aftersales care, but it is also essential that our drivers enjoy driving the vehicles, find them easy to manoeuvre and comfortable. We have found the Mercedes-Benz product to tick all the boxes for us and Rygor has certainly delivered on service.”
