Nixon Hire has just celebrated the arrival of its 50th Isuzu, as a further 10 more Isuzu 7.5 tonne rigids have now been added to its nationwide service fleet.
The relationship between Nixon Hire and Isuzu Truck UK goes back eight years and these are now the second generation of Isuzu trucks to be in operation with the large nationwide company.
These latest trucks are all being used primarily for a wide range of suction applications, in particular, building site toilet units and welfare accommodation unit waste emptying and cleaning, combined with clean water delivery.
“Our experience with Isuzu has been extremely good over the years. The unrivalled payload is certainly a big attraction for us as it allows us to deliver more water with these vehicles and ensures that our customer service is far more efficient,” said Graham Wood, group logistics manager at Nixon Hire.
“Another significant advantage with Isuzu is the strength of their dealer network coverage across the country. In the eight years of working together, we have experienced excellent support at all times as well as a very efficient response from their dedicated customer care team.”
Recently, Nixon Hire has taken delivery of 10 Isuzu Forward N75.190 7.5 tonne SWB rigids all featuring the popular Easyshift automatic transmission mission. Built to an identical specification, the Isuzus have been fitted with GK&N Services manufactured welfare vacuum tanker bodies.
The ground operated GK&N tanks have a total capacity of 3600 litres and are manufactured from stainless steel with a split tank division giving compartments holding upto 1360 litres of clean water and 2270 litres of waste water. The tanks have a gearbox mounted PTO unit operating all pumping equipment.
All daily service items are stored in aluminium waterproof lockers and hose storage is through a concealed auto rewind hose reel.
Also featured on the bodies is a range of safety equipment, including reverse camera kits, LED beacon light bars, LED warning lamps, talkback alarms, side scan pedestrian and cyclist warning centre kits, left turn audible warning alarms and high visibility chevron markings and signs.
Wood added: “Isuzu is now our standard specification for this type of water delivery and collection operation as they have proven themselves to be completely reliable whilst offering a really impressive payload capacity, which is vital for this type of application.”
The 10 additional vehicles are now in service with Nixon Hire and each vehicle will service between 20 and 30 customers per day all over the UK, operating on a six year working life covering up to 50,000 miles per annum.
“After eight years, the strength of the relationship between our two companies is really first-class. The Isuzu 7.5 tonner is ideal for this dedicated Nixon Hire operation and the fact we have 50 Isuzus currently in service with them is testament to the reliability and performance of our vehicles,” said Pete Murphy, managing director, Isuzu Truck.
