The Mercedes-Benz Atego has been named Best Civil Engineering and Construction Truck 2016 by Commercial Fleet magazine.
Judged by a panel of industry experts, the Commercial Fleet Awards are dedicated to promoting the commercial fleet sector, recognising its importance to British business and honouring the suppliers and vehicles that keep the wheels of industry turning.
“The Mercedes-Benz Atego offers operators an established, trustworthy and robust chassis platform to which a multitude of body applications can be attached. With a high level of safety and sound whole-life costs the Atego is a fleet favourite and the backbone of countless operations,” said Stephen Briers, editor-in-chief of Commercial Fleet.
The range offers chassis solutions from 6.5 to 16 tonnes gvw, with power from fuel-efficient four- and six-cylinder Euro 6 engines which drive through standard-fit Mercedes PowerShift-3 automated gearboxes.
Mike Belk, managing director Mercedes-Benz Trucks, commented: “We’re delighted that Commercial Fleet’s expert judges have recognised the Atego and awarded it Best Civil Engineering and Construction Truck 2016.
“In the challenging environments this industry sector faces, operators require a tough and reliable chassis, backed by a Dealer Network which offers a focused and high level of customer service. The Atego is often bodied to meet the complex needs of specialist applications – we understand our customers’ requirements and we know the chassis is capable of delivering a long-term, cost-effective, safe and reliable turn-key solution.”
