Ultraframe is enjoying lower fuel costs as a result of eight new Renault Range T trucks, acquired by Bibby Distribution.
In their first three months of operation, the new vehicles have returned a 10% increase in fuel efficiency.
The Bibby Distribution vehicles, leased from Renault via BRS Truck Rental, replace older DAF and MAN models used to deliver products to conservatory provider Ultraframe’s customers.
Ultraframe’s logistics manager Paul Greaves said: “Fuel accounts for around 30% of our total outgoing costs, so to reduce that figure with more efficient trucks is very welcome and a good illustration of how proactive Bibby Distribution are for us.
“We’re also very conscious of reducing our environmental impact wherever possible and these new vehicles help towards that goal as well. We’re really impressed.”
Each Renault truck is powered by the latest generation Euro VI diesel engine and includes a tachograph machine, which automatically records driver hours to aid compliance.
Every vehicle is also fitted with Microlise telematics, providing a detailed report on performance to Ultraframe. Bibby Distribution also uses this information to train and advise drivers on how to drive in a more fuel-efficient manner to further reduce fuel consumption.
All maintenance work will be conducted at JDS Trucks & Vans in Blackburn, close to Ultraframe’s main warehouse facility in Clitheroe, and if a vehicle is in the workshop for an extended period or MOT, a replacement will be supplied to ensure the fleet runs at full capacity.
As well as handling Ultraframe’s transport planning and distribution requirements in the UK, Bibby Distribution arranges the export of items to Belgium, France and Germany.
