Norse Group has unveiled a new connected fleet as part of its new partnership with Rochford District Council.
Following the award of an eight-year contract for the council’s waste and street cleansing, the new 11 vehicles comprise 10 Dennis Eagle 26 tonne rear steer refuse collection vehicles (RCVs) and one 18t RCV, fitted with electric Terberg bin lifts.
The fleet is equipped with Fleetclear safety technology as per Norse’s standard specification, including live digital camera recording system, cyclist safety warning device, reverse radar and anti-roll away technology.
Chris Davison, group fleet manager at Norse Group, said: “We don’t want to be operating multiple systems anymore, it’s inefficient and time-consuming.
“Fleetclear Connect consolidates the huge amounts of information produced by our vehicle camera systems and safety technologies on one platform, which we can view live and see the whole picture.”
Norse is also trialling Fleetclear Connect - a web-based software platform that consolidates information from the fleet’s safety technologies onto one system.
Davison added: “We have equipped our vehicles with the very latest safety equipment from Fleetclear to assist our crews and we have strict processes in place to mitigate the risk of accidents.
“However, it can be difficult to continually monitor driver compliance to ascertain if best practice is always being followed
“Fleetclear Connect will help us to do this more effectively, as we can see any equipment activations or alerts immediately and take the appropriate course of action.”
Mike Crowther, national key account manager at Fleetclear, said: "We are delighted to be working with Rochford Norse.
“We have a long-standing relationship, and the equipment we have fitted to the new fleet will ensure that the vehicles are always safe, operationally efficient, and compliant.
“Our new Fleetclear Connect system connects all the information and data in one place, clearly showing every vehicle and driver's performance throughout every operation.”
