Brake has announced an extension to enter the UK Fleet Champions Awards 2024, with the new deadline now Wednesday, June 19.

The awards are free to enter and are an excellent way to celebrate the hard work of the organisations and individuals across the fleet sector that make road safety a priority.

This year, Brake has partnered with Driving for Better Business from National Highways to deliver the awards.

All entries will be judged by an independent panel of experts and the winners will be announced at a ceremony at New Dock Hall at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, on Thursday, October 3.

This is the same venue as last year’s event which brought together more than 230 people from across the fleet industry to celebrate 60 shortlisted organisations and individuals, with winners across 11 different awards categories.

This year’s award categories are:  Company Driver Safety; Public Sector Driver Safety: Sustainable Journeys; Dr Will Murray Award for Analysis and Action; Fleet Driver of the Year; Fleet Safety Innovation; Fleet Safety Partnership; Fleet Safety Product; Road Safety in the Community; Safe Vehicles; Road Risk Manager of the Year; and Kevin Storey Award for Outstanding Commitment to Road Safety.

Ross Moorlock, chief executive officer at Brake, said: “We’re really impressed by the calibre of entries we’ve received so far for this year's UK Fleet Champions Awards.

“It’s great to see organisations that are new to the Awards coming forward, but also a delight to see familiar faces – who we know are working really hard to address work-related road risk – once again telling us about their innovative ideas, new partnerships and products, and celebrating their progress towards making roads safer for all who use them.

“Sadly, many road deaths involve a work vehicle and driving is the most dangerous thing that many people do at work. The good news is that we know that with robust policies and procedures, and careful management, we see great progress in stopping road crashes and preventing harm.

“We hope to see as many fleets as possible speaking up about their work to improve road safety by taking part in this year’s Awards.”
