Chinese vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has marked its official entry into the UK market with the launch of an all-electric SUV.
The Xpeng G6 – the carmaker’s first right-hand drive model – is priced from £39,990, with deliveries starting in March.
It has 20 dealerships set to open in the UK in 2025, through a partnership with International Motors, the group behind GWM Ora, Isuzu and Subaru.
“Our launch in the UK, in partnership with International Motors, marks a significant step in Xpeng’s European and global expansion,” said Dr Brian Gu, vice chairman and president of Xpeng.
“We are excited to bring a new era of smarter, more sustainable mobility to the UK market and globally.
“With Xpeng’s cutting-edge proprietary technology - ranging from futuristic design and impressive range to ultra-fast charging - we are confident that our vehicles will resonate with UK consumers, offering exceptional quality, innovation, and an outstanding driving experience.”
It has also revealed, for the first time in the UK, what it describes as an artificial intelligence (AI) defined future mobility ecosystem, offering a range of ‘smart’ electric vehicles (EVs) and a flying car.
Its first AI-defined vehicle will be the P7+, while there will also be a seven-seater, the X9, and a flagship SUV called the G9.
Xpeng says that the UK is a crucial step in its internationalisation strategy, becoming the largest EV market in Europe in 2024, as well as one of the most significant right-hand-drive markets worldwide.
A mid-size coupe SUV, the G6 features 800-volt fast charging and promises an extended driving range.
In a recent survey asking which new entrants to the UK car market are most likely to succeed, a panel of car dealers ranked the chances of Xpeng the highest.
Founded in 2014, Xpeng is one of the fastest-growing automotive companies in the world and has delivered more than 620,000 EVs across the globe.
In January 2025, it announced two strategic partnerships with Volkswagen and BP Pulse to create a super-fast charging network and explore solutions together.
At the end of 2025, Xpeng aims to expand its presence in more than 60 countries and regions.
