The conversion and racking sector continued to demonstrate its innovation at Commercial Fleet Van and Truck.

Refrigeration specialists Coolkit expanded its workshops earlier this year, to have capacity for 40 bays. The firm works with suppliers including Enterprise, Lex Autolease and Lombard to convert its high-payload no plywood vehicles.

Dealer group Imperial Commercials and its sister company Mackworth Conversions talked to fleets about their one stop service for both van and trucks. The company said being able to supply both fully-converted vehicles, along with chassis cabs, was one of its strengths.

Qi Van Systems was explaining the benefits of its latest Order Management and Tracking system, which allows fleets to store customised specifications in a catalogue, order online and track vehicle from port, through its UK Manufacturing facility in Telford, to delivery.

Sortimo's racking system includes aluminum racking, and recent specialist conversion projects have included transport vehicles for motorcycle and mountain bike race teams.

Rhino's Impact Step, launched earlier this year, was on display at Commercial Fleet Van and Truck. Designed to provide a safe step to the load area, in addition to mitigating damage to bumpers on low speed impacts. The system includes shock absorbers and also offers a non-slip top surface.

System Edstrom has recently completed conversion work for Ford, kitting out its mobile servicing vehicles. In addition, clever design means Baxi has been able to downsize its engineer vehicles from the Volkswagen Crafter to Caddy vans while still carrying all required materials.

Cartwright Conversions was exhibiting after being launched as a new division of the British trailer manufacturer. The firm was seeing contracts from existing truck clients for service vehicles, but other offerings the firm has available include welfare vehicles, ambulances and custodial transport.

Strongs Plastic Products was demonstrating its Isuzu D-Max-based utility conversion, which involves stripping away the body and replacing it with a plastic converted load bay.

Bri-Stor is about to relaunch its Easyload roof ladder system, which allows single user loading and unloading of ladders from vehicle tops. The firm's Contigo lightweight pick-up hard top continues to perform well, with a number of large fleets taking the product.

Probuild was showcasing its lightweight vehicle and plant transport vehicle. Based on a Fiat Ducato, the truck can carry a 1,720kg payload, and includes a folding angled ramp for loading of low vehicles.

Tevo was launching its Foldaway racking system, which it believes will do well in the parcel delivery and public sector markets, allowing access to the full load bay when racking is not needed.
