Appliance City has chosen TOM Vehicle Rental to supply its new fleet of seven bespoke-built vans to support the expansion of their multi-drop two man home delivery service.
The new vehicle type, dubbed the ‘Tall Boy’ and designed by Maxi-Low in Loughborough, has been purpose-built onto 3.5t Vauxhall Movano chassis.
The van offers increased height on the normal Maxi-Low product to specifically cater for capacity needed to transport tall-standing American-style fridge freezers without compromising on the additional payload benefits delivered by the lightweight 100% recyclable material used by Maxi-Low.
The new Maxicube Tall Boy vans offer an internal height of 2450mm and internal length of 4.4 metres, delivering a total of 24 cubic metres load volume as well as impressive payload benefits over traditional Luton box vans.
Kevin Hare, operations director for Appliance City said: “We’re delighted to have entered into a working partnership with TOM Vehicle Rental and Maxi-Low to put the Movano Maxicube vans onto the UK’s roads with these vehicles giving a huge benefit to our company, saving overall transport costs.
The new Maxicube Tall Boy vehicles constructed from lightweight materials offer greater volume and a huge payload of 1250 kg. This is 25% more payload than our previous 3.5 ton van fleet and these efficiencies support Appliance City’s strategy to lower CO2 emissions and reduce our carbon footprint.”
The contract hire deal includes repairs, servicing, maintenance, road fund licence, worn tyre replacement and replacement vehicles to keep Appliance City moving.
James Rafferty, sales and marketing director for TOM Vehicle Rental said: “The whole LCV market is evolving towards specific vehicles for specific industries. Where before a Luton would work for the majority, fleets are now more precise than ever in terms of what vehicles and specifications their business requires.
We focus on being flexible and innovative in providing fleet solutions for individual specifications and we look forward to keeping Appliance City’s fleet moving to support their nationwide expansion”
