A family-run business in Wales says it has improved driver safety and saved money, after using Trakm8prime, a GPS tracking system aimed at small businesses, in its vehicles.
The company, which provides domestic and commercial window cleaning across south Wales and in the Bristol area of England, recently signed up to Trakm8prime for its three vans and company car, after testing the technology in a 30-day free trial.
Joseph Richards, managing director at The Cardiff Window Cleaning Company, said: “In addition to the clear safety improvements driver behaviour monitoring has had on our fleet, there has been a noticeable reduction in our fuel consumption.
“Also, knowing exactly where vehicles are at any given time across South Wales allows for rapid response to situations that may arise. This allows us to give an even better service to our important clients.”
Trakm8prime, which is priced at £12.99 per vehicle, per month, combines GPS tracking with business and private mileage management as well as vehicle health prognostics. It also monitors driver behaviour KPIs such as excessive acceleration, harsh braking, sharp cornering, and engine idling.
The Cardiff Window Cleaning Company had recently invested in new vehicles and wanted to ensure that they were driven safely, responsibly, and in a way that minimised wear and tear.
“As our vehicles are all sign-written, we realised that driving behaviour would reflect on our company's reputation,” added Richards. “The 30-day free trial also enabled us to see whether Trakm8prime would be the product for us.”
Richards and the management team have a log-in to analyse driver scores, while his employees are able to view their performance via the Trakm8prime smartphone app.
Emilio Evangelista, one The Cardiff Window Cleaning Company's drivers, said: "Initially the thought of my driving being tracked wasn't really appealing. However, since having the tracker fitted I feel my driving has definitely improved.
“I feel more responsible to ensure that my driving is safe and courteous to other road users. I also enjoy being able to review my driving at the end of the week and see where I can make improvements."
