Anglia UK is to combine its existing Truckfile fleet management system with Geotab telematics for a better picture of its vehicle health.

Based on individual vehicle and driver data, the new system will warn in advance of any remedial work likely to be required, such as replacement brake pads or tyres. It will also provide real time monitoring so that issues such as faulty brake lights can be reported immediately to the workshop.

The firm has combined its existing fleet, operator and workshop product, Truckfile with the Geotab GO 7 telematics system.

By analysing driving styles and vehicle usage, the system is able to accurately predict future repair and maintenance requirements. Furthermore, any faults or defects found by the vehicle systems are instantly flagged through Truckfile’s secure cloud-based servers.

Paul Clarke, managing director of Truckfile, explained: “Not only does Truckfile TM give us the vehicle location, speed and driver behaviour but it also collects a huge range of data directly from the vehicle, providing accurate predictive information about possible vehicle faults.”

The new system is currently being installed in a dozen of Anglia’s fleet cars and vehicle transporters and will be rolled out to the entire fleet of 80 vehicles over the next 12 months.

Anglia managing director Mark Scotney said: “This transition from using telematics as a tracking device to a vehicle management tool will have a huge impact on the efficiency and safety of our fleet.

“As well as making savings of up to 30% on our operating costs, it will remove human error from routine driver maintenance checks, such as the daily first use check, which will help ensure our drivers are safer on the roads.”
