Toyota has revised the pricing and specification for the Proace City compact van, which now starts from £19,718 (CV OTR).
The 1.5-litre diesel engine sees the introduction of a new 130PS variant with an automatic transmission, while the entry-level 75PS version is no longer offered. The 100PS manual model remains available.
A new Design trim grade introduces a higher level of equipement and will be sold alongside the existing Active and Icon derivatives (see below).
Proace City Design models come with 16-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured bumpers, satnav and an alarm as standard. Toyota Safety Sense driver aids are also fitted.
Developed in collaboration with Stellantis, the Proace City is available in two different lengths – short at 4.4m and long at 4.7m.
Both can be specified with three front seats, and as panel or glass vans; the long version is also available as a crew cab. The passenger version is offered with five or seven seats both in the short and long version.
The short model has a maximum load volume of 3.3 cubic metres, while adding the Smart Cargo system provides it with a load length capability of 3.1m. The long model offers 4.3 cubic metres and 3.4m respectively.
Both models have a maximum payload of one tonne, and can tow braked trailers up to 1.5 tonnes.
The equipment specification for the Active models – entry point to the range – includes air conditioning, automatic headlights, heated, power-adjustable door mirrors, one-touch power windows, twin sliding side doors, 180-degree-opening rear doors, DAB audio with USB port and Bluetooth, full-size spare wheel, rubber floor covering in cargo area and a full metal bulkhead.
Icon grade features include: multimedia system with eight-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Smart Cargo system, three front seats, automatic wipers, electronic parking brake, reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control with speed limiter, front fog lights and cornering lights.
Options for Active models include the Smart Cargo system in a package that also includes the electronic parking brake, driver’s seat lumbar support and slide/recline adjustment of the passenger two-seat bench. For Icon models, a Toyota Safety Sense package can be specified together with 3.5-inch colour multi-information display, immobiliser and alarm. Both grades can be specified with a tow bar.
The optional safety pack for the Proace City Icon models includes a Pre-Collision System, Road Sign Assist, Lane Departure Alert and a “coffee cup” alert that recommends the driver take a break if they have spent a long time at the wheel.
The Proace City range will be further extended in 2022 with the introduction of Proace City Electric.
